ABOUT

ABOUT OUR DOJO

CENTRAL WEST KYOKUSHIN KARATE

Our dojo is a place where we want every member to feel safe, supported and confident in their karate journey. While martial arts is an individual path, the people we train with become our support network and an important part of that journey. Over time, they become our karate family and our tribe.

All Central West Kyokushin Karate classes are conducted in a family -friendly environment by qualified instructors. Chief Instructor Michelle Kable has over 30 years’ experience in teaching Martial Arts and has developed this program to support students of all ages and abilities as they begin and continue their Kyokushin journey.

Karate teaches fitness and strength of both mind and body. It also builds discipline, work ethic, goal setting, perseverance and determination. These lessons extend far beyond the dojo and into everyday life. The journey is not always easy, but the character we build and the opportunities we create make it incredibly worthwhile.

Central West Kyokushin Karate classes run in line with the school term and break for school holidays. No training is conducted on public holidays.

ABOUT OUR CLASSES

JUNIORS (6– 14 YEARS)

Our Juniors program (6–14 years) is designed to build confident, capable young martial artists. Classes focus on strong Kyokushin foundations, coordination, fitness and self-discipline. Students follow the Kyokushin syllabus and are supported to progress toward grading at a pace that suits their development.

In this program, children build focus, resilience and coordination through structured training and plenty of encouragement. The Juniors classes are high-energy and fun, while still teaching important skills such as self-discipline, self-defence and fitness. Each week includes a balanced curriculum covering Kihon (basics/foundations), Kumite (self-defence/sparring) and Kata (forms/choreographed patterns), helping students develop perseverance and progress in Kyokushin Karate.

ADULTS / SENIORS (14 – 101 years & beyond)

This class is for committed, determined Kyokushin students who are ready to be challenged. Training is advanced, goal-oriented and demanding, with high expectations around effort, focus and attitude. The full Kyokushin syllabus is covered in preparation for grading, and classes are structured, disciplined and purposeful.

This program supports each student to build confidence and respect, while developing the mindset needed to set goals, stay motivated and follow through. As students progress through the belts toward black belt, they are encouraged to see themselves as leaders, applying Kyokushin values to their training, school, work and home life.
