MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

I first started karate when I was 21 years old. Initially I was looking for some extra fitness however I soon realised that Karate could provide me with so much more. Growing up shy and introverted my self-confidence and self-belief were incredibly low, however as I progressed through karate I acquired the skills to quieten the mind to negative self-doubts and foster positive self-talk, the more I learned about karate the more I learned about myself.
I spent many years competing in full contact karate regionally, nationally & internationally. I have won state, national and international titles, I tried my hand at boxing, kick boxing & Muay Thai and won in both arenas (nationally & internationally). However, my passion lies in all of what Kyokushin karate has to offer. Karate has personally helped me to discover and foster strengths that I never realised were within me. I have made lifelong friends, I have gotten to travel and I am always continually learning new things about martial arts, people, life and myself. The most rewarding experience I receive from karate—is when I get to share some of my experience and knowledge with the students who choose to train in our Dojo and I get to witness firsthand the development of their own greatness that lies within.
Although the first 15 years of my journey I concentrated on kumite (fighting) I realised that the kihon (basics) and kata were just as important if not more so to developing an all-round martial artist. I will be eternally grateful for all that Karate has given me and credit my success in life to Karate. My hope is that through my passion I can pass all that karate has given me onto my students –so that they too can discover the best version of themselves, learn to persevere through life’s challenges and conquer any adversity they should face in the dojo and in life.
I hope your journey is a long, fulfilling and exciting journey and that you can discover the best version of yourself through Kyokushin karate. Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey and always remember—
A BLACK BELT IS A WHITE BELT WHO NEVER GAVE UP!

Sensei Michelle Kable

I started training with Kyokushin Karate in 2000, at the little hall on the corner of the highway in Parkes. I started my journey with Sensei Darren Jordan where I met and trained with some incredible people including Sensei Michelle Harmer (Kable). I had turned 30 had a young daughter and needed a balance of work family and self. I fully embraced the karate family and trained while pregnant with twins. I have three daughters who have all been nurtured during their life by the karate family who are my friends.
I have been given outstanding support and encouragement to fulfil goals during the past 20 years and have represented our little club locally, nationally and internationally. I’ve enjoyed camps and the opportunity to teach and mentor In the community and I have been guided by my friend Sensei Michelle in training and life lessons. My highlight remains the success of our club in particular Sensei Michelle guiding myself Steph Dunford and Laura Symonds to win our respective titles at the nationals, our friendship and hard training created a strong bond which remains unbroken to this day.
I continue to train intermittently now around shift work these days and enjoy friendships and celebrate success of members. I have achieved over the years several personal goals, including joining the Police force at 45. I have no doubt the gained discipline and enthusiastic support network assisted greatly in my success throughout my life. As Sensei Michelle’s first black belt I’m honoured to still be a proud supporter of all Michelle has achieved in forging high quality training and students. I’m proud of our club and proud of all the members and I wish to continue my involvement until I’m under the grass!

I started my training in martial arts under Shihan Darren Jordan at the age of 9 and trained for about 3yrs. I competed in Kata and Kumite competitions during this time. I moved onto many sporting activities after I had a break from martial arts, I played soccer, rugby league, golf, water skiing and also cricket through my time of being a kid and also into my teenage years and my karate training gave me the confidence, strength and mental ability to be able to give all of these sports a red-hot crack.
I started back training in Kyokushin karate under my wife Sensei Michelle (Harmer) Kable, and it was like I had never left, and through the passion she has for karate and the positive impact it has to so many kids growing up and achieving their goals my love for karate was reignited and we decided to build a dojo at our home. During my time training over the last 5 plus years I have completed my Kyokushin Shodan Grading (black belt) which was the best experience and one of the prouder moments I have ever achieved. I have fought a couple of times in full contact karate competitions and have loved the experience and friendships you create out of doing such a fantastic style of martial arts (Kyokushin). I take classes and help with classes wherever I can, I love watching all the students, with the biggest smiles on their faces, I enjoy pushing the kids past their perceived limits and sometimes a little further, and the same when I take senior classes as well. I have trained in a lot of different dojos around as far as up to the Gold Coast and down to Griffith dojo I have trained with and met a lot of great instructors throughout my career Shihan’s, Sensei’s and Senpai’s from all over. Come join a great club look forward to seeing new faces. Osu

I started my karate journey back in 2016 to support my sister in law which lucky enough is Sensei Michelle Kable, who opened her own dojo! As a mum to triplets I thought Karate might be an opportunity to have some time to myself, at that time the triplets were only 2.5years old and this was a great way for me to tune out from everything, focus on myself, and get back into feeling fit and strong. I wasn’t sure if karate would be for me, but I thought I need to give it a go and I got to train with my brother Senpai Mick also. Needless to say, I LOVED IT!!!
It has developed my skill to remain calm under stress, it has built my confidence in karate and also other areas of my life, I have learnt how to defend myself and practice situational awareness, it has improved my self-discipline and self-motivation. Karate has been amazing for my health both Mentally & Physically. I have formed some great friendships and I just love our karate family. After 6 years of hard work, commitment & dedication it was my time to do my black belt grading (December 2021). Emotions were high and after 7.5hrs on the mat of proving my mental and physical strength and my determination of how much I wanted it. I DID IT!! Now my journey begins again..

I originally started my Kyokushin training in Sydney with Shihan Nik Cujic. During this time I competed in many regional and state non-contact tournament’s. After 5 years of training I left Sydney to live in country NSW and my karate journey stopped until I joined CWKK and Sensei Michelle with my family (both my children Sophie and Hamish also train in CWKK). I have competed in several full contact tournaments since joining CWKK and enjoy teaching and sharing my learnings with other Students.
Tim is also the main instructor in our Forbes dojo.
